1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To provide guidelines for Operation & Maintenance
of Lovibond Tintometer.
2.0 POLICY:
To establish a procedure for an operation of Lovibond Tintometer.
3.0 PROCEDURE:
Plug in the Lovibond Bench top illumination system and
switch on and wait for 10 minutes to
warm-up the lamp.
3.1 Fix the Lovibond Nessler 2150 and
insert the colour standard disc chooses among NSH, NSB, NSX based on the colour
comparison.
3.1.1. Fill one
Nessler cylinder to just above the 50 ml. mark with the solution under
examination and fit the anti-meniscus plunger.
3.1.2. Stand
the cylinder in the right hand compartment of the Nessleriser.
3.1.3. Fill
another in the same way with deionized water and place in the left hand
compartment
3.1.4. Rotate
the disc until the closet colour match is obtained, if necessary estimate
between the nearest values.
3.1.5. Record the value displayed as APHA or Hazen
units
3.2 Use
Lovibond Nessleriser 2250 for Disc CAA & CAB.
3.2.1 Fill one
Nessler cylinder to just above the 250 mm. mark with the solution under
examination and fit the anti-meniscus plunger.
3.2.2 Stand
the cylinder in the right hand compartment of the Nessleriser
3.2.3
Fill another in the same way with
deionized water and place in the left hand compartment.
3.2.4 Rotate
the disc until the closet colour match is obtained, if necessary estimate
between the nearest values.
3.2.5 Record
the value displayed as APHA or Hazen units
3.3 For Disc 4/28 and 4/28A Use Lovibond
Daylight 2000+ Comparator
3.3.1 Fill a
40 mm. cell to the 20ml line with sample and place in the right hand
compartment of the comparator. Leave the left hand compartment empty.
3.3.2 Rotate
the disc until the closet colour match is obtained, if necessary estimate
between the nearest values.
3.3.3 Record
the value displayed as APHA or Hazen units
3.4 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES:
3.4.1
To avoid
excessive heating, do not leave the lamp turned on for longer than the duration
of the
measurement.
3.4.2
Always avoid
touching the lamp as this can significantly reduce the life of the lamp
3.4.3
The
glass filter can be cleaned using soapy water then rinsed.
3.4.4
Clean
the cells every time after use
