1. OBJECTIVE: 

To provide guidelines for cleaning and storage of personal protective equipments.
       
2. INTRODUCTION:

The personal protective equipments are very useful and valuable tools as far as safety of personnel and products are concerned. It is not just enough that people know about their usage , it is equally important that proper care should be taken in maintenance of the equipments. The equipments should be cleaned properly and stored in secure places assigned for them to prevent misuse and damage. The cleaning procedure should be devised for each and every type of PPE separately and personnel should be instructed to follow the same.

3. PROCEDURE:      

A. HAND GLOVES:

3.1. Hand gloves should be thoroughly washed every evening after usage because they come directly in
     contact with material.

3.2. First wash them with tap water followed by soap solution.

3.3. Wash them with disinfectant solution followed by D.M.water.

3.4. Dry them completely under the hand dryer and store in a closed container in a dust free atmosphere.

B. NOSE MASKS:
3.5. Nose masks are two types. i.e., disposable type and filter type.

3.6. The disposable masks should be cleaned every day by blowing air after usage and should be
        discarded immediately when they are damaged.

3.7. Filter type nose masks have removable holders for filters. The filters have to be removed from the holders and cleaned by air followed by water and dried.

C. OTHER TYPE OF PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTS LIKE FACE SHIELDS, GOGGLES, HELMETS, HEAT RESISTANT GLOVES & RUBBER GLOVES ETC.:

 All these equipments can be washed or cleaned with wet cloth and dried.

4. RESPONSIBILITY                                    :           1) Stores Dept.

                                                                        2) All the Production Employees.

5. REVIEW GUIDE                            :           SOP revised as per due date.

6. ANNEXURE                                    :            Log book.

7. SOPs DISTRIBUTION:
