1. OBJECTIVE:  To lay down guidelines to conduct an emergency mock drill.

2.SCOPE: To train personnel to ensure that all the elements of emergency response plan are exercised by conducting an emergency mock drill.

3. INTRODUCTION:   It is not just enough that personnel know about the procedures of emergency response . It is equally important that they should be trained practically to face emergency situations. Some short of emergency mock drills are to be conducted at regular intervals by creating simulated emergency situation, so that it will enable the people to act quickly and aptly to prevent accidents , damages to properties or injuries and deaths to personnel.

4. PROCEDURE:

A. SIMULATED FIRE ACCIDENT:

Only trained personnel or outside contractors or consultants should conduct this drills. The drill should be organized in an open place away from the buildings and electrical installations.

1. Place waste dry corrugated boxes sufficient enough  to sustain fire till the end of the drill, as a heap and
    wet them with Kerosene.
2. Wear protective equipment and keep the appropriate firefighting equipment ready and fire the heap.
3. Operate the fire fighting equipment as per relevant SOP and extinguish the fire.
4. At the end of the operation clearly explain the people how to operate the extinguishers and clarify their
   doubts if any.

B. SIMULATED ACCIDENT SITUATION AND INJURIES TO PERSONNEL:

Accident could occur to the personnel during fire or during inept handling of chemicals, solvents and machines and also during civil works. The members of first aid team should be trained by creating a mock situation to immediately respond to save the persons during fire accidents or reduce the severity of injuries in other type of accidents. Only trained persons in first aid operation should do this drill.
