OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for operation calibration and cleaning of Hot plate.

SCOPE:
2.1
This procedure is applicable to Hot plate located in microbiology
laboratory at Pharma Private Limited.

Microbiologist: Responsible for operation of instrument.

Section In-charge: Responsible for review the
procedure

QC Head: Responsible for implementing the procedure.

QA Head: Overall compliance.
4.0
PROCEDURE:
4.1
Ensure that the hot plate is clean and free from dust before starting.
4.2
Switch on the mains, digital temperature controller will show actual
temperature.
4.3

To set the required temperature press the set button“ ” for few seconds, then press ▲ or ▼ keys to increase and decrease the value, then again
press the set button “ ” to confirm the set value.


4.4
System will go in normal mode and it will show process value.
The heaters will start & Temperature will start rising.
4.5
When the set temperature is reached heaters will be off &
temperature will be maintained within the specified limit.
4.6
Switch off the mains after usage.
4.7
Digital display will show the temperature of
hot plate surface only
not the material temperature, keep the sensor in the conical
flask to check the material temperature.
4.8
Calibration:
4.8.1
Digital temperature controller of hot plate
shall be calibrated by external agency once in a year ± 30days or after any
maintenance work.
4.9
Cleaning Procedure:
4.9.1
If any spillage clean the surface with any of disinfectant solution (5% Dettol,
5% Savlon, 1% Bacillocid special or 1% Hospal -OT solution).
4.9.2
Clean the equipment monthly once with disinfectant and enter the details
in annexure I.
4.10
Precautions:
4.10.1
Always use heat resistant hand gloves while boiling the media on hot
plate.
4.10.2
Ensure the electrical connections off while cleaning the hot plate.
