1.0         OBJECTIVE:

To provide the guidelines for Preparation and Standardization of Volumetric solutions used for titrimetric analysis.

2.0       SCOPE:

To lay down a procedure for Preparation and standardization of volumetric solutions for

             analytical Purpose.

3.0       PROCEDURE:

3.1       All the solutions are prepared and preserved as per the laid down procedures.

3.2       These are standardized as per the procedure affixed in the volumetric solutions register.

3.3       The bottle containing the solution is properly labeled as per details given below.

3.4.      Standardization should be done in duplicate and strength of the solution is computed from average of the 2 values. The lot no. of primary standard is mentioned in the volumetric solution record at the time of ascertaining the strength.

3.5       The Strength should not vary by more than 5% of the prescribed strength.

3.6       If the values differ by more than 0.5% of the Average value, Standardization is repeated.

3.7       If the solution is not used within 7 days it is Re-standardized before use and the new Strength is mentioned on the label. The observations are recorded in the volumetric solution register.

3.8       Iodine solution should be Re-standardized frequently (alternate days).

3.9.      All the details pertaining to preparation and Standardization are entered in volumetric solutions Register.

3.10.    All the chemicals used for preparation and Standardization of solutions must be of A.R/G.R Grade.

3.11.    All volumetric solutions have validity period of 30 days/one month. 

4.0       FREQUENCY:   Re-standardized after 7 days of initial standardization or as and when required.

5.0       RESPONSIBILITY: G.M (Q.A).
