1.0 OBJECTIVE:

To provide guidelines for Calibration of Analytical Balance.

2.0 POLICY:

Periodically Calibrated balances will be used for maintaining Accuracy of balances.

3.0 PROCEDURE:

3.1 Switch on the instrument the balance is automatically calibrated (citizen only)

3.2 The Balance should be checked for leveling of the base by spirit level, before operating. This

is applicable for Afcoset, Snug & Citizen balances only.

3.3 The level of contech balance is checked by placing spirit level on the balance before operating.

3.4 Use Standard weights for the calibration of the Balance. The standard weights are calibrated

and tolerance limits are noted.

3.5 Place the Standard weights and note the readings

3.6 Any difference in the Reading and the Standard weight shall not be more than the

tolerance limit as specified.

3.7 Daily check on higher weights- 1g, 2g, 5g, 10 g, 50g Lower weights – 20mg, 50mg, & 100mg.

3.8 All the readings shall be entered in the Calibration register

3.9 The Afcoset Balance & Citizen balances having a inbuilt Calibration facility which can be

used for Calibration.

4.0 FREQUENCY: check daily before use & Calibrate once in 3 months

5.0 RESPONSIBILITY: Executive (QA)

6.0 REVIEW GUIDE: Calibration Record.
